My dearest Miss Marley Grace. You are so small. 7lbs 13.4oz 21 inches long and a 13 inch head. You have a crazy amount of hair. Long dark hair! You are beautiful. Beautiful. I love you already. Perfect for our family. You are with Daddy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He won’t leave your side.

My dearest Marley. We are on the eve of your second surgery. It’s hard to imagine the long beginning you’ve had already entering into this world.

My Darling Marley. You are beautiful and peaceful. We are out of surgery and in B wing. A tiny yet big baby at 8lbs almost. Your tubes, and wraps, and IV. Your skin is a bit dry and peeled where tape has been. Your little chest with sticky residue from the heart monitors. This time you have a neck nerve block catheter. As you lay there rolling your eyes around and making the best smooshed faces, your tiny fingers on your left hand curling around mine. They feel soft and gentle. Long. And very tiny. Your right hand still bandaged with chubby shorter curled fingers on it. They are not as long. Not as slim. Much more red. Spread wide- a far cry from the right tucked under fist you used to have. They are nail-less. But completely beautiful- they are you.
Daddy told me today one day you’d marry a man that will love you and cherish you and you would have the best hand- so long to show off that amazing ring. I know I’ve said it before but you are perfect in your delivery and arrival. And God sees you as whole and so do I.
